Fun with money

We used to get a big fat coupon book every year that gave pretty good discounts on a bunch of restaurants we used to frequent. A month or so a go we received a post card that said that another was on the way. No big deal. It turns out that the coupon book company was using Robin's old credit card that we didn't use and thought we had canceled. We receive a credit card statement with a single item on it. I guess we didn't cancel it in time to to miss the charge. No big deal we'll pay the card off and use the book. The book never showed up and after a few calls apparently I determined that they sent it to our old apartment (circa 2005). It seems they have been sending a coupon book there for at least the past year, maybe more. Maybe our old arms dealing downstairs neighbor got some use out of it. Or maybe Daisy the yapping wonder dog who used to live next to the arms dealer got to chew on one. I don't really care. The main thing is they issued us a credit that will go through in 7-10 days, I have to pay the credit card bill before then. After 7-10 days I have to call the credit card company back to have them write me a check after the $25 credit goes through. All of that could have been avoided if they would just extend me another week of grace time. What could possibly be the negative ramifications of this? Oh yeah I'm going to stick it to the credit card companies for $25 for an extra 7 days? Sometime rules allow people to stop thinking. Sometimes a little judgment is required not just a "these are the rules I will now turn my brain off." Then again based on some of the people I come into contact with, maybe it's best certain people follow the script.
